Character Study Lesson Plan
This lesson plan was used when I was student teaching with 7th grade students at Fleetwood Middle School. At the time, students were reading Holes. This activity allowed students to recall information regarding specific characters in the novel. When students were finished with the character sketch, they were able to sketch what they believed the character would look like. Examples of the work done by students is seen below.
Literature Circle Lesson Plan
This lesson plan was also taught at the middle school using the novel Holes. This lesson plan includes reviewing vocabulary words, finishing reading a particular chapter and then working on their literature folders in their literature circles.
Venn Diagram Lesson Plan
This lesson plan was used after students read the novel Holes. Students had to complete the Venn diagram in order to compare and contrast the movie Holes to the novel. Students were given the Venn diagram on the first day the movie was shown in class. Students were provided with a Venn diagram as well as an example Venn diagram to assist them.
"My Last Duchess" Lesson Plan
This lesson plan was used during a poetry unit when I was student teaching with 12th grade students at Wilson High School. The lesson plan begins by defining a dramatic monologue, and it moves into answering questions regarding not only the jist but the meaning of the poem, "My Last Duchess" by Robert Browning.
Common Usage Problems Lesson Plan
This lesson plan was also used at the high school; it deals with common usage problems. This lesson plan provides explanations as to why certain words are easily confused and practice sentences.
"Condition of Ireland" Lesson Plan
I taught this lesson to high school seniors. "Condition of Ireland" is a non-fiction piece. This lesson was taught after students had time to read the piece. These lesson plan deals with students working in cooperative groups in order to analyze the essay.
Pride and Prejudice Enrichment Lesson Plan
This lesson plan was used with high school seniors after we finished Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Students were given four options as to what enrichment activity they wanted to complete. All the activities dealt with the theme of the novel.
Six-Word Essay Lesson Plan
This lesson plan was used with high school seniors. They had to create a six-word essay that shares something about themselves. Then, they had to create a PowerPoint slide with their six-word essay and an appropriate background that goes with their essay. I saved all of the PowerPoint slides, and created a video for each class.
